Benefits of having an OBM

April 6, 2018 By Irene Leave a Comment

An OBM also known as Online Business Manager is an individual who is skilled and has experience in handling the online tasks and functions of a business. With the world moving digital at a very alarming rate there is the need for a company to establish its online presence if it wants to reap handsomely on the digital market platform. Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Linkedin are some of the applications that will connect business and its customers online.

An Online Business Manager can handle any tasks to streamline and keep a business working to its full, and best capacity. Some of the things an OBM can do include:- Project Management, Digital Marketing, Strategy, Launches… among others.

Three significant advantages have been associated with engaging the services of an OBM in the modern world. They are  namely:

  • Creation of more personal time
  • Gaining a trusted partner
  • Efficiency on projects

Let’s expound further on the above three outlined points for better understanding.

  1. Production of more personal time

With a start-up business, most of the tasks are handled by the owner. As time goes by and the company keeps expanding, and there is the need for bringing other personnel onboard to handle the fast increasing tasks in the business. When the business owner takes care of all these jobs, there is little time left for business expansion and personal life hence the need to free up some of that time by hiring an Online Business Manager.

  1. Having a trusted partner on board

When an OBM is hired, he/she will be taking care of the most critical aspects of the business which is not known to the public. With such a person on board, there must be an element of trust that has been established and shared between the business owner and the OBM. The thought of having a trusted member on board will put any business owner at ease.

  1. Efficiency on projects

The modern OBM is highly skilled and well versed with the needed skills and requirements for a business to penetrate the highly competitive digital world.  With such competent personnel on board, a business owner is assured of efficiency on all the projects that will be delegated to the OBM. Efficient skills will translate to the high active content being created and channeled online to reach more clients which will be converted to more sales and profits to the business.

With the above-outlined advantages of engaging an OBM in a business, any business owner will be easily convinced that the services being offered cannot be ignored but should be embraced. An OBM will take a company to an admired high level and ensure that more time is saved and diverted to other business areas or personal life.

I want to hear your views on hiring an OBM. If you have one, list how your business has grown!!!

How Project Management is Useful to a Virtual Assistant

October 26, 2017 By Irene Leave a Comment

Virtual assistants, are unique workers in that their work involves a lot of multi-tasking. They will be managing a social site while designing at the same time, managing email lists, marketing stuff and sourcing for cheap flights at a go. Therefore, it means they need to plan their time and tasks very carefully lest they mess up some of their work. This is where project management tools or task management apps come in handy.

Project management is simply the discipline of organizing, planning and executing work or a team of workers to achieve set goals while attaining efficiency. This means a VA needs project management to run their work smoothly.

Below are various ways that project management is useful to VAs:

  • Amount of work

In most cases VAs have multiple projects at hand, it is paramount for one to know how much work they can handle within a given time so one doesn’t become overwhelmed. I have a number of clients and I use Asana which is more of a task management tool which helps me stay focused and productive. Other VAs, use either Trello or pen and paper 🙂

  • Time blocking

The other use of project management in VA work is utilization of time. When a VA has a project at hand, they can decide to break it down into chunks for easier execution. Therefore, they can determine how much time the task (project) needs and break it into smaller units. For this, I use an app which is also a browser extension called Rescue.

  • Outsourcing

Outsourcing is common especially if you have a dedicated team. For a tool like Asana, you can create a team and invite members to the project so you can assign various tasks to them. It also allows the owner to set deadlines for the projects at hand. This helps for smooth running of the client’s business. That said, the VA has to utilize project management to distribute the tasks. They also need it to keep track of the work as well as know how to budget for the efficiency of payment.

If you want to know how I can help you in Project management, feel free to schedule a free consultation and let me assist you in this.

Therefore, when they outline the amount of time a project is supposed to take, then can let their employers know of the expected cost. Similarly, after working for sometime while keeping track of the time consumed, they can send accurate bills to the clients.

Evidently, as this post suggests, project management is one of the most important skills that a virtual assistant needs.

The form you have selected does not exist.
